Madinah Historic Landmarks Tour (Ziyarah)
Private Ziyarah with a dedicated vehicle and driver
A private chauffeured visit to Madinah's most significant historic sites: Masjid Quba, Mount Uhud and Archers' Hill, Masjid al-Qiblatain and the Seven Mosques (Khandaq). Your driver collects you from your hotel and waits at each stop.
- 01
Masjid Quba
The first mosque built in Islam, founded by the Prophet (peace be upon him) on arriving in Madinah. Visitors make wudu beforehand and pray two rak'ah here, which the Prophet described as carrying the reward of an Umrah.
- 02
Mount Uhud & Archers' Hill
The site of the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH. You visit the graves of the martyrs, including Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, and see Jabal al-Rumah, the small hill where the archers were posted.
- 03
Masjid al-Qiblatain
The Mosque of the Two Qiblas, where the direction of prayer was changed from Jerusalem to Makkah during a congregational prayer. A short visit; most people pray two rak'ah.
- 04
The Seven Mosques (Khandaq)
A cluster of small mosques on the site of the Battle of the Trench in 5 AH, marking where the Prophet and his companions kept watch. The main mosque, Masjid al-Fath, is open for prayer.
The car is yours for the full 3.5 hours. Your driver waits at each stop while you visit and pray.
Your driver works for a Saudi transport company licensed by the Transport General Authority (TGA). They collect you from the lobby, take you to each stop and wait while you visit. They are not a licensed tour guide, and we do not sell them as one: the notes on this page tell you what each stop is and what people do there. A guide who speaks your language can be added to any journey as a paid add-on. Ask for one in the special requests box when you book, or write to support@seemadinah.com.

High on Jabal Uhud, a new summit development now has cafés and restaurants looking out over the whole of Madinah.

The qiblah changed here. Word came mid-prayer that the direction was now Makkah, and the worshippers turned around from Jerusalem.

The trench that saved Madinah was Salman al-Farsi's idea, a Persian defence the Arabs had never seen before.
