The Four Landmarks: Quba, Qiblatain, Uhud & the Trench
The classic ziyarah in the order it happened, with hotel pickup, time to pray at every mosque and one fixed price per vehicle
Quba, Qiblatain, Uhud and the Trench, told as one story from the Hijrah to the Battle of the Trench. Your driver collects you from your hotel, crosses the city once from south to north, and waits at every stop while you visit and pray. The car is yours for about four hours, so no stop is cut short.
Itinerary
- 01
Masjid Quba
The first mosque built in Islam, founded by the Prophet (peace be upon him) on arriving in Madinah after the Hijrah. Visitors make wudu beforehand and pray two rak'ahs here, which the Prophet described as carrying the reward of an Umrah.
- 02
Masjid al-Qiblatain
The Mosque of the Two Qiblas, where the revelation came during a prayer to turn from Jerusalem towards the Ka'bah. A short visit; most people pray two rak'ahs.
- 03
Uhud: Archers' Hill and Sayyid al-Shuhada
The site of the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH. From Archers' Hill you look over the battlefield where the archers were posted, see the martyrs' cemetery, where Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib is buried, from the rail, and pray at Sayyid al-Shuhada mosque.
- 04
The Trench and Masjid al-Fath
Below Mount Sal', where Salman al-Farsi's trench held off the Confederates in 5 AH. You climb to Masjid al-Fath, where the Prophet made du'a during the siege. The small mosques around it, often called the Seven Mosques, are later memorials rather than mosques from his time.
The car is yours for the full 4 hours. Your driver waits at each stop while you visit and pray.
About your driver
Your chauffeur works for a licensed local partner. They collect you from the lobby, take you to each stop and wait while you visit. A chauffeur is never sold to you as a guide and does not narrate the journey: the notes on this page tell you what each stop is and what people do there.

High on Jabal Uhud, a new summit development now has cafés and restaurants looking out over the whole of Madinah.

The qiblah changed here. Word came mid-prayer that the direction was now Makkah, and the worshippers turned around from Jerusalem.

The trench that saved Madinah was Salman al-Farsi's idea, a Persian defence the Arabs had never seen before.
